working with athletes                sports psychology

mental training for physical achievement

When athletes decide to work with a psychotherapist, they often want to focus on performance enhancement in order to reach their full athletic potential. As an athlete, you might feel “stuck” on a certain level and seem unable to move forward. As a result, you can experience frustration, loss of passion for the sport, and overall dissatisfaction with life.

Depending on your needs, I can help you:

  1. Set your goals and establish concrete steps in order to achieve them

  2. Analyze your performance, identifying what you do well in addition to what needs improvement

  3. Analyze various factors that directly or indirectly affect your performance and make constructive changes, if necessary

  4. Develop steadfast confidence and motivation

  5. Develop skills of focus, attention, and concentration under the pressure

  6. Learn to manage your emotions in a way that benefits you, your performance, and hopefully others

  7. Learn to utilize your interpersonal relationships, including these with teammates or coaches, to enrich your athletic career

  8. Organize other areas of your life (family, relationships, school, or work) in a way that is supportive of your athletic career

If you have been injured, I will support you in your injury recovery by teaching you pain management techniques.

In addition, I assist athletes in transitioning from being active in sports to undertaking other endeavors. I provide career and academic counseling to athletes who are looking to expand their lives.
